Tom Simons coordinates the news release operation for University Communications and assists in media relations. Prior to joining the University Communications staff in 1992, he was assistant sports information director at UNL, assistant publicity director for the St. Louis Football Cardinals, sports information director at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, reporter and copy editor at the Lincoln Star, and associate sports information director at UNL.

A member of the National Association of Science Writers, Tom received a bachelor's degree in history from UNL in 1982.
