Troy Fedderson has served as editor of the Scarlet since March 2005. He is a 1995 UNL graduate, having earned a Bachelor of Journalism and Mass Communications, majoring in Advertising with minors in Art, Marketing, Art History and History. Troy has nine years of newsroom experience, working for community newspapers in Alliance, Wahoo and Waverly before joining University Communications.

As editor of the Scarlet, Troy manages the editorial content, design, advertising and printing for the weekly publication delivered to nearly 8,000 faculty, staff, emeriti and friends of the university. He also assists with other University Communications projects, coordinates special sections for the Scarlet and designs the Chancellor’s Report.

In his free time, Troy enjoys being with his family, reading and collecting Star Wars paraphernalia. Unofficially, he is a Virgo who loves long walks along the beach, thunderstorms and snuggling in front of a cozy fireplace. He is also responsible for the care of 237 cats, 63 bullmastiffs, 22 ferrets, a goldfish and two spiffy children.
