BIOGRAPHY

Sara is a proud UNL alum, class of ’98.  After graduation, she spent a year in northern Thailand on a Fulbright grant, conducting research in microeconomics.  She then managed communications for two Washington, DC nonprofit organizations before becoming a full-time graduate student in creative writing.

Sara brings a decade of work as a copywriter and editor to her job in university communications.  Her primary role is that of newswriter.  She writes for the UNL Web site, the Scarlet, and other internal publications.  She also edits Columns, the bi-annual magazine of the College of Arts and Sciences, and assists with media relations and crisis communications.

When she’s not at work, Sara can be seen criss-crossing south Lincoln on walks with her miniature pinscher, Lucy. All together, she and her husband, John Gilliam (UNL Instructional Technology Group) have five pets, which unfortunately limits their ability to travel the world scuba diving.
